ALEJANDRO BERNAL RUEDA

Alejandro Bernal (Bogotá, 1981) is a documentary director based in Mexico City. He has worked on projects across Latin America for more than fifteen years, producing documentaries and docu-follows for networks such as VIX+, Al Jazeera English, Telemundo, Univision, YouTube, Spotify, Discovery Channel and ARTE, among others.

In 2017, he received an Emmy for his story “Amazon: Paradise for Sale”, and more recently won the Rory Peck Award for his documentary “In Enemy Territory”, produced for Witness / Al Jazeera English. His feature film “Amor Rebelde” had its world premiere at Hot Docs 2021 and was later released in theaters in Mexico and Colombia.

He is currently in post-production on his third feature film, “Linda”. 

​

Alejandro has directed projects for some of the most important production companies in Latin America, such as Dynamo (Colombia), EndemolShine Boomdog (Mexico), Pacha Films (Peru), and Mixer Films (Brazil). In addition, Alejandro is also a partner at the production company Trópico Media.
